SENATE PRESIDENT PRO TEM DENNIS BAXLEY ENDORSES CHAD JOHNSON FOR HOUSE DISTRICT 22

Chiefland, Fla. — Today, the Chad Johnson for State Representative campaign announced the endorsement of President Pro Tempore of the Florida Senate Dennis Baxley. Chad launched his bid for the House District 22 seat in early September and has secured notable endorsements from term-limited Speaker Pro Tem Chuck Clemons; Reps. Bobby Payne, Stan McClain, and Ryan Chamberlin; Gilchrist County Sheriff Bobby Schultz and former State Rep. Charlie Stone.

“Chad Johnson is the right choice for State House District 22,” said President Pro Tem Dennis Baxley. “His family roots and first-hand knowledge of the issues important to North Florida make him the perfect fit to be the voice of his community in Tallahassee. He will be a stalwart force for freedom in the Florida Legislature, and it is a pleasure to back his campaign for State Representative.”

Sen. Dennis Baxley’s legislative career spans over two decades, serving in both the Florida House and Senate. In the Florida House, Sen. Baxley served from 2000-2007 and again from 2010-2016, where he held the position of Speaker Pro Tempore during Marco Rubio’s speakership. He was then elected to the Florida Senate, where he continued to champion legislation protecting family, freedom, and faith in Florida. From 2022-2024, during his final term representing District 13 in the Florida Senate, he presided over the chamber as President Pro Tempore. Outside of public office, the Ocala Republican is a funeral director and consultant.

Chad was born and raised in Alachua County, with family in Gilchrist and Marion counties. He is a University of Florida graduate with a degree in Food and Resource Economics. Chad and his wife Angela reside in Levy County and have four children. He is a tried-and-true community leader, formerly serving as a Levy County Commissioner and President of the Levy County Farm Bureau and the Florida Association of Auctioneers.
