Chiefland, Fla. – Today, Chad Johnson, candidate for State House District 22, announced the endorsement of Gilchrist County Sheriff Bobby Schultz. Johnson, a professional auctioneer and former Levy County Commissioner, is running to succeed Rep. Chuck Clemons, who is term-limited.
“Because he is a man of integrity and service, I enthusiastically endorse Chad Johnson for State Representative in House District 22,” said Sheriff Bobby Schultz. “I’ve had the honor to know Chad and work with him through the years. He understands the people of our part of the state, and I know he will fight for our values. He has a clear vision for ensuring good jobs, excellent schools, and protection of our natural resources. He's the right man for the job.”
Sheriff Schultz has an outstanding record of service throughout District 22. He began his law enforcement experience in the Gilchrist County’s Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Corrections, followed by stints in the Levy County Sheriff’s Office and the Chiefland Police Department. He has served in both the State Attorney’s and Public Defender’s offices for the Eighth Circuit. He served overseas as a law enforcement advisor to the State Department in Afghanistan. First elected as Gilchrist Sheriff in 2012, Schultz has been re-elected twice and has served in multiple leadership positions for the Florida Sheriffs Association, including Board Chairman and President.
“It's a true privilege to have Sheriff Schultz’s endorsement,” said candidate Chad Johnson. “We’ve already worked together well in our counties, and I know we can accomplish even more when I’m elected to the State House. Sheriff Schultz has exactly the spirit of service we should be encouraging in all our elected officials. I will strive to take that same attitude and work ethic to the Florida House on behalf of our district and all Floridians.”
Chad is a proud 5th and 6th generation Floridian with deep roots in Alachua and Gilchrist Counties. His family has strong ties to the district with an extensive history in farming and ranching. He graduated from the University of Florida College of Agriculture, with a degree in Food and Resource Economics. While at UF, Chad was an IFAS Ambassador, a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, and was inducted into Florida Blue Key. Chad has lived in Levy County since 1994 when he married Angela Quincey. They have four children. The lifelong Floridian had the opportunity to gain valuable public service experience when he was appointed to the Levy County Commission in August 2009 and elected to the commission in 2010. In this position, he advocated for fiscal responsibility, property rights, and reduced government regulation. Today, he is a professional auctioneer with over 20 years of experience, specializing in livestock, equipment, and benefits. Chad is employed with Datamars, Inc. as a Regional Sales Manager.
House District 22 encompasses Gilchrist, Levy, and part of Alachua Counties.
