Chiefland, Fla. — Today, the Chad Johnson for State Representative campaign announced the endorsement of Florida Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson. Chad launched his bid for the House District 22 seat in early September and has secured notable endorsements from House Speaker Pro Tempore Chuck Clemons, Senate President Pro Tempore Dennis Baxley, and Reps. Bobby Payne, Stan McClain, and Ryan Chamberlin; Gilchrist County Sheriff Bobby Schultz and former State Rep. Charlie Stone.
“Wilton Simpson has been a great Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and I look forward to working with him in the state legislature to protect Florida’s farmlands from Chinese purchasers and stand up for private property rights and the preservation of our vital ranches and farms,” said Chad Johnson. “There is a diverse agricultural industry throughout House District 22, including cattle, dairy, aquaculture, row crop, nursery, and forestry. I am truly humbled and honored to have the support and endorsement of Commissioner Simpson. Through his career as a farmer and as an elected official, Simpson has always fought to protect and strengthen Florida Agriculture,” said Johnson. “I look forward to fighting for our rural communities and the agricultural industry, which has provided so much in my life.”
Wilton Simpson serves as Florida’s Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services, addressing the challenges facing Florida farmers and ranchers. Before joining Governor Ron DeSantis’s Cabinet, he served in the Florida Senate for eight years, presiding over the chamber as President from 2020 to 2022. In the legislature, he championed issues important to Florida’s agriculture industry and fought hard to keep Florida open during COVID-19. Commissioner Simpson is a lifelong Floridian, farmer, and entrepreneur.
