Chiefland, Fla. — Today, Chad Johnson, candidate for House District 22, announced the endorsement of former Florida State Representative Charlie Stone. Chad entered the race to succeed term-limited Speaker Pro Tem Chuck Clemons in September. Since then, he has been endorsed by Clemons and also Reps. Bobby Payne, Stan McClain, Ryan Chamberlin, and Gilchrist County Sheriff Bobby Schultz.
“House District 22 needs someone in Tallahassee who is a tried and true conservative and has a vested interest in the community’s future,” said Charlie Stone. “Chad Johnson is the right man for the job. He puts high value on free markets, fiscal responsibility, and the quality of life that the residents of North Florida enjoy. He is the right voice and the best choice for the voters of Alachua, Levy, and Gilchrist Counties.”
Charlie Stone represented Florida’s House District 22 from 2012 to 2020 before it was redistricted. Prior to serving in Tallahassee, he was a Marion County Commissioner for eight years. A longtime Central Florida resident, Stone has operated Stone Petroleum Products Inc. since 1990, delivering quality petroleum products throughout North and Central Florida.
“It is an honor to have Rep. Charlie Stone’s endorsement in my race for State House,” said Chad Johnson. “His work in the Florida Legislature made a lasting impact on the district and helped pave the way for our state to become the Free State of Florida we know and love. He set a great example of leadership.”
Chad was born and raised in Alachua County, with family in Gilchrist and Marion counties. He is a University of Florida graduate with a degree in Food and Resource Economics. Chad and his wife Angela reside in Levy County and have four children. He is a tried-and-true community leader, formerly serving as a Levy County Commissioner, president of the Levy County Farm Bureau and the Florida Association of Auctioneers.
